I have sort of a fuzzy relationship with my work-life balance, but I'm consistently enthusiastic about finding new hobbies that I love as much as I love my research.
My non-work life involves writing slam and magnetic poetry, swing dancing, rock climbing, slacklining, board gaming, and painting. I'm not an expert at any of them, but am sincerely enjoying the process of learning.
I'm also strongly interested in outreach, and am involved in Carnegie Mellon's Women@SCS to help support women and culturally underrepresented minorities in computer science, as well as Allies, mentoring Pittsburgh LGBT youths.
Generally, I'm happiest with a few close friends sitting around a living room, having conversations that sound like this and discussing which Dixit card most resonates with how we live our lives. These are mine, if you're curious.
